Pool Furniture Buying Guide

Gear up for summer by creating your own poolside oasis. From chaise lounges to dining sets and more, your pool will be the party spot of the summer!

It’s only a matter of time before the sun is shining and we’re able to spend the days relaxing poolside. Or maybe you live in a place where it’s summer all year round, and you’re sitting by the pool while you reading this (lucky you!). Either way, there’s nothing like going for a swim, catching some rays, and relaxing with family and friends by the pool on a warm summer day.

No poolside retreat is complete without pool furniture to make the hot summer days even more comfortable and luxurious. A poolside patio space is perfect for all kinds of summertime activities, from relaxing alone with a good book to hosting the pool party of the year. One thing is for sure: your poolside space needs the proper patio furniture so you can host guests and enjoy your backyard to its full potential.

The question is, what kind of pool furniture will work best for you?

Well, this all depends on how you like to use your space. A pool deck is a great place to lounge and work on your tan, so you’ll probably want to include some chaise lounges and lounge chairs in your patio design to give your family and friends plenty of seating. You might also consider including a dining set so you can snack while you swim or enjoy a poolside meal at the end of a long day. Whether you’re swimming laps for exercise, lounging in the sun, or hosting a summer pool party, the pool furniture you choose for your patio will set the scene.

Pool Party Entertaining

We all have that friend with a pool, and we all know that any backyard with a pool is the party hot spot of the summer. Whether you have a few friends over for a quick swim or host a big backyard bash, having a pool is a great excuse to entertain guests when the weather is warm and the sun is shining. Although you’ll hopefully be hanging out in the water for most of the day, it’s important to have patio furniture around the pool so your guests have a place to sit, eat, and relax. Any type of patio furniture can be placed poolside, but some great options are:

Catch Some Rays

A poolside chaise lounge is the quintessential chill-spot of the summer. Just like at the most luxurious hotels and resorts around the world, placing a chaise lounge next to your pool will create your very own summertime oasis. Chaise lounges are perfect for tanning, relaxing with a drink, taking a nap, or just lounging by the pool. We recommend placing two or more chaise lounges on your pool deck to provide ample seating and space for your guests to soak up the sun.

Chaise lounges can be dressed up with cushions and pillows, so the design options are endless. Be sure to place an umbrella near your chaise lounge so you can relax in the shade when it gets too hot.

Another great spot to work on your tan would be a lounge bed, or daybed. Daybeds are outdoor beds made of various materials and cushioned for maximum comfort. Daybeds can be adorned with pillows and look much like a typical bed. Some have removable canopies over the top so you can choose between cooling down in the shade or feeling the warmth of the sun. Daybeds are often seen at tropical resorts, and are a truly luxurious option for anyone looking to create the most lush and comfortable space next to their pool.

Dinner on the Deck

Everyone loves dining alfresco, and there’s something extra special about sitting down for a poolside dinner. Having a dining set on your patio near the pool is a great option for entertaining. Not only is the pool a beautiful accent in your space, but dining nearby allows you to interact with guests while they swim, or keep an eye on the kids while you dine with friends. Dining sets come in a variety of designs, shapes, and sizes, so you can choose the set that will work best for your desired aesthetic and can comfortably seat as many guests as you see fit.

A Little Extra Something

There are many things you can add to your poolside design to take your space to the next level. Adding an outdoor area rug will introduce a fun pop of color to the space, and protect your deck from any sun and water damage. You can also add planters and plants to beautify your deck with gorgeous summer blooms.

But the perfect addition to any poolside entertaining space is an outdoor grill. Everyone loves grilling in the summertime, and having a grill near your pool (but far enough away so it won’t get splashed!) ensures that you will throw the best parties of the summer.
