It looks amazing, and feels so high end, as much like a great piece of engineering as a fashion statement. The mechanics of how it opens, tilts, rotates, and even how the protective cover goes on are so impressive and get oohs and aahs from everyone who sees it. I wondered if it would be worth buying such an expensive umbrella but it’s worth every penny.

First, it's engineered beautifully. Every component is substantial enough to appear solid and operate well, but not so much as to be bulky or excessive so it has an elegant overall appearance--particularly when open. One neighbor exclaimed 'it looks like it's levitating'. (because the support column is slim) In addition, for such a large umbrella, angle/vertical adjustment is nearly perfectly counterbalanced by the design so sliding the angle/vertical adjustment up and down requires nearly no effort. Beyond it's excellent design, stability in wind, and quality, there were the unexpected extras. It arrived with a high quality cover--but not just any cover. The lever integrated into the base is very clever and enables easy rotation of the entire umbrella, and then naturally locks when released at the desired position. Since the retracted umbrella is over 9 feet tall, putting a normal cover on and zipping it would be an adventure with a ladder--but not so with this umbrella. A simple pole is provided to lift the cover on and off, and to zipper it down from 9 feet in the air, a cord system is integrated into the cover to enable zipping up and down from 'ground level'. I don't have long term reliability information as yet of course, but so far this exceeded all my expectations.
