In 1965, Jacob Sperling moved to Los Angeles to earn his degree in aeronautical engineering. While studying, he worked as a sales associate for a lighting retailer and was soon designing and engineering his own fixtures and selling them locally. This first foray into the lighting industry led to his focus on meeting customer satisfaction, a hallmark that continues to influence the company’s philosophy today. In 1970, with the addition of Jacob’s brother, Zvi, assisting on customer needs and expectations,
Maxim Lighting was created. Over several decades, the company has expanded from the Sperling’s garage to a 206,000-square-foot facility with over 400 talented employees.
