5.0 out of 5.0 so nice Craig from Newcastle, OK 6-20-2016 This thing looks great next to our pool. I ordered the in ground base and set it with a bag a quickrete. I love that the whole pole can be turned about the base in order to adjust where the shade is. It is a large shade, easily able to accommodate several sitting chairs under its area. One thing I didn't like was the umbrella mounting beam is not fastened to the cantilever beam in any way. This is not good because the right wind can cause some serious damage if these two pieces become separated when you don't want them to. I corrected this by adding one self tapping screw through these two beams in order to secure their union. I suggest doing something similar to yours and you will be happy!

4.0 out of 5.0 Quite an impressive umbrella Richard from Miami, FL 5-16-2015 We have the umbrella right next to our pool to provide shade for swimmers. The umbrella works very well, and is very stable in the wind with the stabilizing rib that connects to the mast, and the ~450 lbs of concrete pavers in the base (eat your wheaties on the day you put the base together). There were some differences in the parts delivered, and the parts described in the assembly instructions, but it eventually became clear what needed to be done. It looks like there were some design changes to the umbrella, but the assembly instructions were not changed. There is a cord and cleat that the assembly instructions say "is to prevent accidental closing of the umbrella". I found this strange because the only way the umbrella can accidentally close, is if the winch fails. The cord is difficult to reach for shorter people (my wife), and tends to interfere with opening and closing of the umbrella, even if the cord is uncleated. Also, for our installation with the umbrella over the pool, the cord cannot be reached without swiveling the umbrella over the patio first. For us, I just tied the cord up out of the way, and we will not use it.I would give it another half a star if I could. Only reason its not five stars is the little bit of confusion in the assembly.
